ABBFEST 2008 - WE NEED YOU!

In order to build on the success of Abbfest 2007, we are now recruiting local breweries, food and craft stall owners, and volunteers to make Abbfest 2008 even bigger and better than last year.

ABBFEST 2007
A RECORD-BREAKING SUCCESS!

It was our biggest success to date – more people, more beer, more food, more chefs, more wine and more entertainment.

We would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who sponsored us and made this possible.

ABBFEST 2007 broke all our previous records and made possible even more donations to local community groups and wider charities.

So we also owe a huge thank you to all of you who came to celebrate and savour all that is best in Devon – as well as our many and generous sponsors without whom this fantastic event would not be possible.

And behind the small but extremely hardworking group of trustees who put abbfest together there are hundreds of other volunteers whose willingness to give up their time and their energy must not be forgotten.

More than 3,200 visitors attended this year’s Abbotskerswell Beer and Food Festival  - between them drinking more than 7,000 pints of the 114 Devon ales and ciders on offer.  They sampled wines from local producers and tasted every sort of food from fish and meat to cheeses and olives.

The cookery demonstrations by some of the County’s finest chefs drew packed audiences by day, and  by night hundreds of revellers danced enthusiastically to Status Clone, one of the best tribute bands in the UK.

“Stripping the Willow” had the crowds joining in as Wart ‘N All provided a traditional Ceilidh while the Newton Bushell Morris Men brought forth rapturous applause.

“I have never been to an event with such a wonderful atmosphere of bonhomie,” was just one comment.

“This is the only Beer Festival I am comfortable bringing my family to,” was another.

Epithets such as “Fantastic” and  “A great party” were common.

Charities that benefited from Abbfest 2007 included ‘Macmillan Cancer Support in Devon’, chosen charity of Jack Isaac who offered his field for Abbfest and The Wildlife Trust whom our main sponsors, Fermoys Garden Centre and Farm Shop, were supporting. The other main benificiary of Abbfest 2007 was the RNLI.
