Last Years Events and Entertainment

A 3-time Michelin star chef, a television natural, a discerning author,

A restauranteur, a shrewd businessman, an eloquent orator,

Mad as a hatter, sharp as a knife, a culinary genius and a big softie at heart...

In addition to John Burton Race two more highly acclaimed local chefs offered their cookery demonstrations on the Saturday – Matthew Mason from The Jack in the Green, Exeter and Shaun Joint of De Traceys, Bovey Tracey. All proved to be popular and were met with enthusiasm from our festival goers.

In March last year Matthew won the Professional Class in the region’s largest cookery competition, the South West Chef of the Year.  Devon born and bred he served his apprenticeship at Gidleigh Park and just a year after taking over the kitchens at The Jack in the Green the pub became one of the first ever to achieve two AA rosettes and is featured in numerous good food guides.

Shaun Joint is another well-known local chef who won last year’s prestigious South West Pub Chef of the Year competition.

Also, Lori Reich from Shute Food & Produce advised us all to 'let them eat cake'. Lori and the kids made tasty healthy cakes using ingredients from her farm in Bishopsteignton.

"Status Clone are quite simply first class in every department. This tribute to Rossi, Parfitt and co is played completely live and their fast moving and well rehearsed set was wildly received by the audience. This band should make a lot of money on the tribute market".

Ian Nixon trained locally and has always worked in Devon.  His motto is “The preparation of good food is merely another expression of one of the joys of civilised living”, He personally buys only the best local produce and says “I am looking forward to providing you with a taste experience that is second to none”.  His new restaurant is designed to be “a temple to gourmet dining”.
